Petr Novotný

Since his studies at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague he has directed in a number of Czech theatres. From 1986 – 1990 he was the artistic director at the Music Theatre in Karlín, where he created a range of productions: My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly!, Some Like It Hot, Zorba the Greek, Singing in the Rain, Chicago etc. In 1989 he was involved in the first large private musical production in Prague – Les Misérables, and he has also directed most of the other Czech productions of the most celebrated international musicals: Jesus Christ Superstar (reprised 1287 times), Evita, Les Misérables again and Miss Saigon. He is currently one of the most sought after musical directors in the Czech Republic, guesting regularly in repertoire theatres at Křižík's fountain.
